Pug is a chinese breed, that got to Holland at around the XVI century, and later on, to England, where the standard would be written. The breed was then diffused to many European countries, always as a noble house pet to the high society. The English then named them pug-dog, which means a very tiny dog.
In Brazil, the breed is still being discovered, and little by little getting more and more known by their charisma and exotic looks.
The pug is a big companion dog; they are excellent at the art of making friends and unconditionable fans. It is a very well behaved breed, docile, sensitive and affectionate, which makes them a good dog to live with children. Very faithful to their owner, the pug will follow them around without being asked to. For their diminutive size, they are adequate to any household. They anxiously await for the moment that the door is opened and they can finally jump up and down their owners! The pug is very dependable on human contact.
While they are puppies, they are a lot of fun and very active, but not very destructive. They like to play to the fullest. After a moment of playing, they fall asleep so they can recharge their batteries for the next play section.
A remarkable sound that can be heard where the pug dwells on is generated once it's asleep; they snore a lot! But in general they are not a noisy dog; the pug barks very little, only when someone arrives ta home or when it hears a very loud noise. They are very suitable for apartment living.
To raise a pug there must be a lot of effort put into it; it demands some special care. They are not a dog to live alone, to just leave water and food. They are very dependable of their owners, both phisically and emotionally.
